The Home of Fine Restoration & Conservation
Fenix Carriages are proud have been involved in a number of carriage conservation projects for museums and collections throughout the UK and USA.
Our purpose built workshops enable us to offer a service second to none and our attention to detail is unsurpassed.
All carriages undergoing restoration receive a thorough assessment prior to being dis-assembled. Using our skilled craftsmen and traditional methods we then restore the carriages to their original condition.
All types of carriage restoration and conservation are undertaken to the highest standard including:
- Rebuilding
- Repairing
- Repainting
- Retrimming
Spring Making
We have our own Springsmith in-house which enables Fenix to offer unrivalled flexibility and individuality.
We produce springs for vintage cars and light aircraft – Pete makes by hand all the springs, shackles and forgework for Fenix Carriages, here on site in our own workshops.
Hand built to individual requirements.
Fenix are the only carriage builders in the UK with such facilities, right down to our own spring tempering furnace and oil bath. This offers our customers a unique opportunity to obtain a truly bespoke vehicle, or restore an old one correctly and safely. All springs are individually made to suit the vehicle and the new owner, to the highest of standards and by traditional methods.
Wheel Making
For the past 25 years Fenix Carriages have been producing carriages using time-honoured methods. This craftsmanship and attention to detail ensures that our products are built to last, and so maintain their value worldwide.
In the Fenix workshops we use traditional methods to fashion our wooden wheels. We make English pattern, Warner, and Artillery type wheels, with a choice of steel rims or clincher, with flat or round top rubber.
We also make steel wheels.
